TRANSPARENT MATERIALS IN UT2004

I'VE JUST HAD A STUDENT VISIT ME ENQUIRING ABOUT TRANSPARENT TEXTURES IN UT2004.

SOME STUDENTS IN THE CLASS ARE USING GLASS-LIKE TEXTURES FROM ONE OF THE STANDARD TEXTURE PACKAGES. IF THAT'S YOU, COULD YOU INDICATE THE PACKAGE THE TEXTURES ARE IN IN THE COMMENTS BELOW?

AND FOR STUDENTS INTERESTED IN CREATING THEIR OWN TRANSPARENT TEXTURES, SEE THE "TRANSPARENCY using alpha channels" TUTORIAL IN THE Tutorials FOLDER ON THE ARCH1101 RESOURCES DRIVE.

this is quite sad, by now i thought if you wanted to be good you would have explored ALL of the textures, but anyway...if you want a glass/transparent textures there are quite a few folders that contain them but a major one with heaps in it is call UGeneric.
have fun

↑ wow chill out, why would you check out ALL of the 4 year old textures, if your into that sort of thing ok

anyways i used CheckerFX and CheckerFXB, be wary with the glass depending on how you use it, it can have...undesired effects such as the 'hall of mirrors'... also UGeneric works for some people, for me personally it didnt show anything but the checkered boxes and coloured lines

clearly you dont know how to use the program. if wanted to see the glass in that selection you have to hit the "all" button at the top.
i mean really, pay attention.

who are you to judge the rest of us by saying that if we dont know how to apply a texture we are not good enough

its now about how good you are its about not being a lazy a** and finding the texture yourself

wow losers....

"this is quite sad, by now i thought if you wanted to be good", "lazy a**" and "losers" are all uneccesary comments made about your peers in arch1101 especially if you are entering into an industry that is based on communication!

I agree with the above post. You guys are all in this together and need all the support you can get. By the looks of things maybe i should take my bussiness elsewhere.

I lol'd

but seriously, being able to hide behind the facade of being anonymous brings out the worst in people.

the red centre hides all of its construction under a facade. thanks benv1080.

The first person that wrote that comment about glass textures, you ought to say to yourself, dont be confident with what you know about UT. At the end of the day you will be dealing with serious cad work outside, not video games. So its not sad that some people havent explored all the components!
