SETTING UP UT2004 ON YOUR MACHINE:

HI ALL, IN TERMS OF SETTING UP UT2004 ON YOUR COMPUTERS YOU HAVE TWO OPTIONS:

1. DOWNLOAD IT COMPLETELY THROUGH STEAM (BY FAR THE EASIEST OPTION)

OR...

2. IF YOU HAVE A SLOW INTERNET CONNECTION, OR LOW DOWNLOAD LIMIT (UT2004 IS ABOUT 6 GIG) YOU CAN GET THE BULK OF THE FILES FROM THE RESOURCES DRIVE AND JUST PURCHASE/DOWNLOAD THE "KEY" THROUGH STEAM. TO DO THIS FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS IN LECTURE 5.

IT MIGHT BE HELPFUL TO THINK ABOUT OPTION 2 LIKE THIS: THE FILES YOU GET FROM THE RESOURCES DRIVE IS THE "CAR". YOU CAN USE THE EDITOR (CHECK THE OIL, CHANGE THE SPARKPLUGS, PUT CD's IN THE PLAYER) BUT YOU'LL NEED TO GET THE "KEYS" (FROM STEAM) BEFORE YOU CAN TAKE IT FOR A DRIVE. THAT'S WHY YOU GET THE ERROR MESSAGE WHEN YOU HIT "PLAYTEST". THE SOFTWARE IS SAYING YOU HAVEN'T PAID FOR ME YET.

IF THIS IS HAPPENING TO YOU YOU HAVEN'T DONE STEPS 6 AND 7 OF THE INSTRUCTIONS IN LECTURE 5. IT WON'T WORK UNTIL YOU HAVE.

HOPE THIS HELPS.

Hi Russell. Would UnrealEd (I got it from the S drive) work if you download an UT2004 keygen from any kind of shareware?

Hi Russell, this is Gajan Punnia-Moorthy (z3258886). Is it okay if you put the instructions from lecture five on how to set up on the machine "Unreal Tournament 2004: Editors Edition" onto your blog because I seem to be struggling with installing the key for this programme on Steam and reading the instructions on how to install because I find it hard to juggle with toggling different programmes (Powerpoint & Emustore).I'm asking this because I want to find efficent ways to follow the instructions so that I won't make errors when setting up the programme onto my machine. I already downloaded steam and I almost finished copying the resources to my folder.

However my connection to the internet is slow and there appears to be an error message when opening up Steam,(comes with the messsage:ERROR"Steam.exe(main exception): Unable to load library Steam.dll")

Another hiccup is that it doesn't allow me to copy all the files because it comes with this error message that it cannot open a particular file, so I had to do it in seperate parts, (is there any quick method to copying the resources from Emustore to my folder?).

If so, could you help me give some advice on how I could deal with these problems I mentioned in my comment by either e-mailing me (address: gajman547@hotmail.com) or meeting me @ the Studio lesson in the afternoon 1pm to 5pm.

Hi Everyone, I'll only answer technical questions on legitimate installs. So if you are using a cracked version of the software you are on your own. There are just too many ways for things to go wrong with borrowed, pirated, or incomplete installs.

We have ut2004 in the FBE computer labs so if you have trouble you should use those machines until you find a solution. To play test you'll need to log on through steam (so the game can be accessed) and find the Ued.exe in the system folder of UT2004, which is here...C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\unreal tournament 2004\System\UnrealEd.exe and make a shortcut to your desktop.

Hi, I downloaded UT2004 through steam, and everything is fine except that I can't open any of the browsers in Unreal ed, for example the texture browser won't open when I click on the texture icon or in the menu? Any suggestions anyone??? Maybe we should look into a forum blog where everyone can go to ask questions, and anyone from the class can answer.
